    Broken cup holders

Has anyone else had problems with the front set cup holders in a Multivan (or similar)? The passenger side of the cup holder console on our 2010 Multivan broke 6 months ago and last month the drivers side had the same problem. Very small plastic flange that holds the pin in place broke off on both sides, so the holder will just fall to the floor when a drink is placed in the holder.

VW dealer quoting me over $400 for a replacement and about the same again in labour as "...we have to remove most of the dash to install."

Any similar experiences would be welcomed. Seems like a terrible piece of design as it was just normal coffee cups that led to the part breaking.

    Cheers... Dumb Ron

If you do replace it, Ebay.UK has them regularly for a fairly cheap price (sub £50).
I get most of my gear from the UK including wiper blades and LED globes etc.

Pretty good stuff very impressed , the main issue with the broken part is its a pin coming up through the top part which is what breaks off I made up a very small thin piece of alloy and screwed it to the top of the holder and the pin was located at the side works great .

Yes, there is also Qbond available from Burson and similar stores. I use it on plastic and metal as well.
I've repaired a shattered sliding door handle with it more than 5 years ago and it still holds together.
