    Rear Shocks?

My rear shocks need replacing as one leaking. Any recommendations? I've read Pedders, are these for modified vans only?
Don't think I'll ever have much weight in the back but will use the van in fields and rough roads. It's a 2006 4motion.
    Any thoughts? Cheers BR

I have a 2006 van which also leaked in the rears, and I bought the peddars, (not the bilstiens which they can also sell), but one of these sprung an oil leak almost immediately and they replaced it for free. Since then they are ok and work well.

    Thanks Brian.
I've been quoted $530 for the shocks, $750 fitted - didn't catch the brand as I was quite surprised by the price.
Should I expect to pay around $500 for the pair?

As for installing, it's looks straight forward or I'm I missing something?

    Thanks again BR

I didn't fit them, although I have fitted plenty in the past, but they look easy enough, as they are detachable unlike the front mcpherson struts.

Mine were $380 fitted with a 10% discount for a senior citizen card, (over 60). They were pedder part 120216 comfort gas shock. You can find them online in the pedders website.

Your price sounds a bit high to me if they are the same ones as mine, I deliberately didn't get the original bilstiens because they both leaked oil within 5 years. It will be interesting to see how long these pedder ones last.

Thanks again Brian, just had a look at the comfort gas shocks and they look ideal.

Fitted some Pedders shocks over the weekend. Was a very straight forward and finished in less than hour - I find the $200 quote hard to understand, presumably they didn't want to do the job.

yes makes you wonder about labour charges I just swapped over the towbar from our old T5 to the new one total time to remove rear tail lights rear bumper under floor plastics on both vans 3 hours . Admits here that I now have to find someone to tell the Can Bus system that their is now a tow bar on the new van before the computer has a dummy spit , memo to VW is it so hard to program the van for all functions to be standard then maybe we will not be funding dealerships to just "turn" on a component .
