Best tyres to buy for my 2008 LWB 2.5 128kw 6 speed auto?

    Hi guys,

I am about to buy a new set of tyres.

My van is used as a car only, does bugger all work, mainly carries just me, and my personal stuff and occasionally a passenger or two.

I am prepared to spend the $295 "best price" quoted from my usual guy to fit Michelin Agilis. He raves about them and says they are worth the extra money over his (next best?) Continental Vanco tyres at his discounted $229.

However, without going all around the countryside, as these forums are wont to do, just interested to know if anyone else feels the extra is just not worth it, or indeed if there is a better option out there. Eg. Read an old thread which seemed to favour Maxxis tyres.

    Appreciate your feedback, cheers, Dubswin.

Hi Dubswin I know every one has their own experience with tyres so here is mine , previously I had used NanKang tyres for around 6 years or so on both our vans correct load rating for VW T5 128 diesel auto 235/55R 17 $200 each because of supply problems recently I switched to Federal Formoza 235/55RZ17 also $200 each . I was very happy with the NanKangs except for two tyres a few years back that delaminated at around 30,000 kays but to their credit they gave me two new tyres free of charge . The Feds are so far so good nice ride and not noisy .

The Michelin's were my original tyres and I got 85,000km out of them. Have done 65K on the replacement Pirelli Chrono and they won't get same, at best say 5000 more.

What size, The 16" or 17"?
There are 2 seperate threads with a lot of discussions about the tyres incl. pricing.

I am about to purchase the Toyo H08 215/65 106/104T 16 inch tyres. Correct load rating. Around $200 per tyre fitted.

    Cheers,

    Scott
