    back seats comfort, Suspension ??

    Hi guys,

I have a T5 2013 ( TSI Highline) and I sat recently for the first time on the back seat ( last row).I found it pretty uncomfortable as I could feel every single road bump.

is there a setting or suspension change that could improve the situation ?

    Thanks

thats just transporters for you -

Transporters have a high load capacity, so when they are relatively empty there isn't a lot of weight over the rear axle compared to the GVM. In the front, you dont feel the bumps nearly so much as you would know. As you load it up, the majority of the load is carried by the rear axle and the springs and shocks in the rear are designed to cope with the load.

logically, if you fill the vehicle from front to back, the passengers will always get the best possible ride quality.

Generally, a van like a transporter wont give the kind of ride comfort of a 'people mover', because it has such a better load capacity (that of a van, not a car).

Throw a few bags of concrete in the boot, that will help :-P

If you are never going to carry substantial loads but you want more passenger comfort, its possible you could change springs and shocks to something softer (and custom), but it would need to be carefully thought out as its a big van that drives like a car and you could potentially make the handling suffer without careful consideration.

I agree with you gldgti transporters can be violent unloaded sort of . I had our first T5 worked over by King Springs on the Gold Coast back in late 2004 just after the T5 release . As it was so new they did not have a template to work on so it was a bit of trial and error , they removed the springs and "reset them " it lowered the van by around 40 mls the ride is very good , the only problem we have had is at high speed you hit a pothole or something similar it will hit the rebound blocks in the front with a heavy thud . I have had it checked over the years and there has been no damage to any components , now our latest T5 2012 model I fitted Bilsteins coilovers and it is fabulous the ride is very good no bottoming out issues . The handling is very precise even with a load on board , if there was any problem its just a tad low when fully loaded so you have to watch where you drive when off the road .

I had the same rough-ride problem in the back of my MY2012 TSI, but managed to resolve it by switching to most comfort-biased tyres, which are "Michelin Premacy 3 ST" in the same sizr as the original.

This tyre change reduced a lot of impact harshness from the back. I am still keeping Dunlop Sports at the front for their crisp steering response.
