I love the "according to the Australian Government" bit... feels like someone was grumpy at being forced to do a recall

I had mine done today while my van was in for a scheduled service. They informed me yesterday when I dropped it off that it would be part of the service and take about 45 minutes. Midway though today I received the email mentioned above warning me to get it done.... happy to get one vehicle out of the way, our Passat is due next time.

An update that mine is booked in next week. I suggest you contact VW Australia to ensure they have your contact details as that may prompt it getting done earlier particularly if it is older than six years. Scott.

Yes got an email yesterday. So will be booking it in shortly. T5.1 MY2011
45 minutes ? what a crock , I removed ours twice when installing factory cruise control and it takes no more than ten minutes at best .
But then we all know how much dealers like to ramp up income for any work done , and yes they would have to fill out paper work .
VW Dealer wants mine for half a day, but assuming it will be a short job somewhere in their schedule. The will drop me off home and pick me up with an Uber. So next time a loan car is not available for a service, perhaps suggest an Uber! Cheers, Scott
