    Air Conditioner Fan

    Hi all

Been suffering through speeds 1 and 2 of my air con not working. Works fine in 3 and 4, but i'm sick of the noise and general freezing cold environment, real first world problem! Anyhow, research it appears it is likely a resistor pack. I've found the following in the Polo forum, but as yet haven't found anything on this forum.

    A/C Blower Resistor Pack Replacement

Anyhow, been quoted a couple of hundred for mechanics to fix, but as it appears to be a cheap cheap eBay part I might as well have a crack myself. Anyone else had a similar experience they've could share?

    Thanks!

I would suggest after looking at the Polo instructions that it will be infinitely easier to actually remove the whole fan assembly and save all the hassle of unclipping as they did .Once you remove the lower dash parts its simple to remove the whole part in one lump . Also being VW most of these fans are generic so hopefully they would be the same for lots of the models . I know when my fan itself went to lunch I tried to find a replacement other than VW but the only one I found was available for around $40 but to get that price I needed to order 100 of them from China [bugger] Ended up with genuine for around $400 from VW .

Thanks Sunny, font of all knowledge as per usual!

So my research is Just Kampers at $137 or this on eBay http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...obalID=EBAY-AU for a bunch less. Was that $400 for yours, fitted I assume/hope!

my plan is to pull it out and make sure I get the right one first of course!

No my whole actual fan went out for lunch , I did remove the motor and attempted to resurface the brushes on the armature but because of the crappy way the motor was made it didn't work for long sort of melted the brush housing . The motor and fan are all one part I think with the resistor included . I did the job myself less than 15 minutes from memory .

    Hi,
The air con/heater blower on our 2006 T5 has stopped working (on all speeds, though it will occasionally work when the bus first starts up), are there any clues as to whether this is likely to be the resistor and/or the blower motor and does anyone know the part numbers of each so that I can use to to reduce my internet searching time?
    Many thanks,
    Andy.

I've purchased the resistor off eBay for about $10. It's currently on a slow boat from China so I'll let you know how it is when it arrives. Mate had similar problem to mine with his Holden Colorado and the eBay part did the job for him!
