At least you have fuse cards now days VW do not supply them some BS story about the van being under continuing development since 2010 and they do not have the fuse locations available but a quick trip to your local dealer [70 kays round trip ] they will help . But a good soul on here put up the locations a couple of years back . But I pity the poor sod who has not found the forum , and as above you need to be conversant in ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphic writing to decipher the meanings .

The listing and pictures I have show the a/c fuse in that SD fuse-holder as #3, a 15A, but in your image the #3 slot is empty,
I can't make out if there are contacts in those empty slots, but if there are, perhaps just try a good fuse in either 3rd position,
top and bottom. if you go back to #15 post, you will see a snowflake icon on the fuse card on the right.

If there's power and earth at the compressor clutch, it generally suggests that the compressor has died.

Yes, but these have a constantly spinning non magnetic drive, the compressor is controlled by a regulating valve, fitted in the compressor,
a VW service/dealer or a VCDS operator can bypass the controls and test the valve and compressor, (BTW it operates with modulated low voltage, don't let anyone try battery voltage on the valve connections).

@Scouser - I just knew you would tell us that, I was nearly going to say someone is gaslighting you,
it really doesn't surprise knowing how electrical systems do not always comply with the book.
Just for fun try the fuse as I mentioned, before you put it back together.

If you think you could measure the voltage at the compressor control valve, without risk of damaging the
connections, then that would be the next step, if there is voltage there (I can't say the voltage without
checking) maybe around 4-8 volts ? that could lead to further steps.
WARNING - if you have any doubts about testing like accidental short circuits, damage to connectors, etc
then let a competent technician do it for you.

I forgot to ask earlier if you did a scan ?

Just wondering too, how minniemousey got on with theirs.

Well, mechanic said it was the drive coupling for the compressor back in 2011 and we still haven't bothered getting it fixed. Maybe before this summer....
