    Aftermaket GPS navigation with Bluetooth

    Hi All,

I am looking for an aftermarket Unit to put into my new 103kW Multivan T5. I would like to have bluetooth as well and have read abou tthe Pioneer unit. Is this the best option? or are there other brands that might be as good. I have considered the RNS 510 but it doesnt look as straight forward and needs a seperate Bluetooth kit which may or not support my Andriod Phone. Maybe Mr and Mrs Hawk can give some feedback on their Pioneer unit. The install looks great and very flush...

and a reversing camera would be a bonus too!

I've been sniffing around for all sorts of ideas for my Multi, Rob (sure they're sick of me here by now, bugger all seem to be interested in the multivans, sept the Hawks of course!)
    Decided on the Eclipse unit

    AVN726EA | Products | Eclipse | Eclipse

They're around 2 grand, plus fitting
I really wasn't interested in that price at first, but the more I looked, the more it seemed the best option
Most other brands you have to buy and add modules
    Eclipse, it's all there

Just have to sort out speakers amp etc and I'll get started

Clarion and Kenwood have some units with Bluetooth incorporated:

    Ive got yhe Kenwood DNX7340BT.
The only issue I have with it is that it does not allow me to touch screen dial on my Blackberry, or use voice commands. I haven't tried upgrading the BT firmware yet though. GPS is based on Garmin, which I am used to with a hand held unit in the other car. It works well. Price was about $2,300 fitted. The dealer had already installed a camera for the previous unit, which never worked, so the camera also provides rear vision when in reversing mode.

Thanks for the comments....its interesting that no one has suggested the factory RNS 510. I think it will be between the Pioneer even though its the most expensiv,e and the Eclipse which I would like to see some more of. I tend to stick to brands I know so will keep you posted on the outcome.

I also heard about a company advertising on the radio today called Polaris GPS offering a unit for $1295. By looking at their website, complared to other units....I'd imagine you will get what you pay for...

Thanks everyone, and more comments welcome!

    I would actually suggest a RNS510.

I'm retro fitting a RNS510 to my Multi when it arrives in November. RRP from VW is $3500. Can be had from the UK for $1150 .......

I ordered my Multi with factory fitted premium bluetooth so it will fully integrate.

Am currently fitting a RNS510 and a Parrot CK3100 with VW2Connect system ($400 all up) to the Tiguan, so you can fit a RNS510 and Bluetooth that fully integrates to the Multi for under $2000 .... (Parrot Bluetooth)

Better than any aftermarket combination IMO.

At the moment VW don't have a retrofit genuine RNS510 available for the new Multivan, something about the wiring not working properly. (admittedly I did learn this one the hard way while working on Mr The_Hawk's car o_0 ) The only real close to OEM replacement is the Pioneer F20.

    Cheers

I believe Polaris are on OEM supplier to Ford Aust, such as the reverse camera for the FG/Terry.

After looking at lots of options, I have decided to go with the OEM RNS510 factory unit, picked up on the bay for a third or the factory price. It will be installed with the Parrot CK3100 by The Car Kit Company in Artarmon and should cost about $1800 all up. Will post some pics when it's all in. Thanks everyone for your help.
