I recall when I had my 2000 Caravelle the auxiliary pump was running when the engine was switched off for a period of time to avoid hot engine soak. It should switch off after a little while.
Cheers, Scott
I’m wondering is anyone with a 2.0L AAC engine transporter could tell me when their aux water pump comes on? Is it only when the engine is hot or is it all the time when the engine is switched off? Thanks

Thanks Scott. Do you remember if it would operate only when the engine was hot or would it happen whenever you would switch off the engine? I’ve not had mine come on (only recently bought the van) so I’m wondering if it’s not working all together..
It will only come on when it's hot & generally only for a minute or so. It's powered separate to the ignition circuit.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Hi Stolky,
What Jets said coupled with one of the engine fans running on slow speed for a minute or as well. I would typically notice it on after a good run leading to a hot engine soak. Cheers, Scott.
Thanks guys. I'll take it for a good run and see if I can get it to come on. If its not working all together could you imagine it being detrimental to the engine?
Probably not detrimental, given but I am not sure, whether this auxiliary arrangement even existed on earlier versions of the five cylinder VW/Audi engines. Cheers, Scott
