5th gear issues with T4's?

Hi all

Apologies if this has already been discussed but I'm looking to buy a T4 and have found one which sounds good EXCEPT it won't go into 5th gear. The owner assures me it is a simple linkage problem (of course!). Is there a history of such issues or has anyone else experienced anything similar?

In 147,000kms with our T4, I never had any problem.

I did, however, use Nulon in the gearbox & the engine.

I have been reading forums like this one for around 5 years & I have never read anything about a problem in selecting 5th gear except where there is a linkage problem. Why not ask the seller to have it adjusted before you consider buying it.

There is a couple of plastics bearing balls that wear and fall off on the linkage mate, tell tale ther is the gearstick gets really sloppy, this would stop it going into 5th alright. If they are ok you will have to get the linkages realigned mate
