2010 Multivan headlight issue

Hi all,

Can someone check for me if the driving lights dim or go out when high beam is active?

I've installed HID bulbs in place of the H7 halogen ones, and turning high beam on makes then flash rapidly, not good....

The resistance values are probably different. These have bulb monitoring, which means the output voltage to the bulb is from the Body Control Module, not the switch.

It only pulses enough voltage to the bulb to illuminate it sufficientl. I'd suggest looking at alternatives that are compatible with the van's electronics.

The driving lights work normally, but when the high beams go on (they are standard), the HID's flash rapidly. No doubt

I just can't remember if driving lights are:
a) active
b) low power or
c) off
while hi beam is on?

Welcome to the weired world of modern car technology , can bus in todays cars are temperamental . Add something that's not standard will cause havoc as Umai said above the values and resistances go beserk . As for your answer I thought the DLR would go out once the headlights are switched on regardless of high or lo beam . One option would be to install a relay each side in line to bypass the power for the HIDs coming from the canbus directly , might be worth a try as I have done similar with a Cree light bar on ours . The relay sends a 12 volt feed direct from the battery and the cars normal feed from the can bus is then not affected as it only supplies power to activate the relay .

I am also thinking a relay might solve the issue.

Just to clarify, the lights I put on replace the normal, night time low beam driving headlights, not the daytim running lamps, which do go off once low or high beam is active.
