So gfh, did you end up buying it?
My dealer did not make any mention of the "service kit " as it was pre booked and after the auto had failed I went back and asked why they did not remove the sump and replace filter and clean etc and they just trotted out the VW line that VW told them "not" to remove the sump as its "Sealed for Life" end of story . I think the problem may be that in some dealers may not wish to do the removal because if something goes wrong then they will be held responsible . It has been reported that in some cases cleaning out the auto will clear gaps around the valve bodies and this then leads to a worsening of the existing problem . In my case if the filter on its own had been done at the earlier time I am certain ours would have still been going strong , maybe the thumping gear change might have still occurred but the blockage would most definitely not happened .
So gfh, did you end up buying it?

I am now wearing my dunces cap I looked up GFH but got multiple meanings , not sure what your one is related to , more likely it should have been why the "F " did you buy it ? meaning the line that the dealer trotted out or what ?. Please put me out of my misery and I will try and find either a simple answer or the correct one or even a smart "ar,," one . HA HA
"gfh" is the original poster
