Red face 2006 Multivan T5 Highline...with NO radio!!!!!

Hello all, I am looking for some advice and guidance on what I could put into my 2006 Multivan. We only just purchased it, and it has no radio whats-so-ever!
I was looking at the RNS510 but this appears to fit newer models??? I also went into a car audio shop but they quoted me $2300-$2700 for Alpine Navigation, reversing etc
I don't have that type of money, but would love to have a system that was radio, cd, ipod connectivity (maybe), gps, reversing camera (or connectivity), maybe dvd? I was thinking of getting a roof mounted DVD player for the kids too, but may have to look at the costs of a stereo first!
Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed.
Oh - I measured the front dimensions of the 'spot' (technical I know) and it was 118mm high by 191mm wide. Does that sound right or is the spot I have not a standard spot?
I apologise for my lack of technical speak!

Look at the ebay, the radio from Touareg will fit. It's good you know the measurements, that is important, there are 2 different sizes units in Touareg. I think it was around $1200 last time I looked at.

    Welcome Stinky!

Just to jump on this thread do any other VWs come with the square corner radios that any one knows?

Lots of them have round corners so will not fit the older Multivans.

Sounds like the previous owners were Brethren. They dont have radios in their cars. Not sure if the radios are removed here in Oz, or they come from Germany without radios. Which leads me to the question, Are there speakers etc, and the connections for the radio in the dash?

Thanks Rob for the tip about the other thread, shall head to it now. Great to know that I need square corners for my van.
IN2VWS - yes, they were religious. We didn't ask what denomination. It appears to have all the speakers in the van, just a space where the stereo, nav system would go.

Hey Stinky nappy I have a 7inch double din unit for sale at the moment it is brand new still in its box unopened , Okay yes its a chinese one but lets look at the details before every one poo poo,s on it . We have two T5,s and have the same model in both vans , they have been in the vans for now over 3 years . The one in my wifes van has outputs to the rear seat screens that I have fitted to 4 headrests , it also has the rear camera connected, GPS , {australian maps} Ipod connection via cable / or Iphone via the bluetooth/ Am Fm radio / Cd/ Mp3 disc play / DVD disc play plus analogue TV / auxilary inputs from outside connection like a game console input from usb style cable from digital camera etc. Plus its touch screen operation . Now the reason for this extra unit well the one in my van the GPS went offline it would not load the program , so I contacted the supplier in China they were excellent they sent a new mini sd card with an upgrade which fixed the problem , but stupid me I decided to buy another unit in case it happened to mine again . Well you guessed it mine is still working perfect and I use mine for work every work day utilizing the GPS listening to music and taking phone calls hands free via the bluetooth all at the same time its brilliant . The only thing you need to do is buy a rear camera its not included but the unit does work with any of them , we fitted an infared style camera which works in the dark . PM me for the price Howard PS we are in Brissie and you will be surprised at the price for all the features .

For got to mention this the square cornered model for the first series T5,s fits perfectly to the hole in dash , probably the only thing I can make a suggestion for you is that because VW place the media units so high up on the dash bright daylight makes seeing info a bit hard so I made a small eybrow fitting to shade the top works a treat , I can send photos if needed . Sorry mikinoz, I'm admin/mod on an industry forum which takes up plenty of time, so I only check in on this room
Don't have time for much else here. Shame, cos it's all very good
Did you end up getting one?
