    Strange behaviour!!!

Started the van, out the driveway down the road for 5 minutes when I started getting warm looked down and the AC wa turned off. Tried to turn it on......nothing! LCD display did not function, reached for the windows...nothing, both front windows would not go up or down. Bt this stage I had reached an intersection and needed to make a turn.....no blinkers???

Pulled over turned it of then back on.....no difference. Did it again but also locked and unlocked the van....no difference. Tried it again but open and closed the front door... no difference.

Headlights worked, interior lights still worked but the wipers did not work LOL.

I was running late so continued for another 15 minutes. After my appointment I came out to the van and tried again...no difference. So I opened all the doors and tailgate, pressed the button to lock everything then unlock then I closed all the doors and did the lock/unlock again go in and tried again and this time it was all back to normal with everything working.

Anyone else had something like this happen?

The Comfort Controller reset? It's a pitta you don't have VCDS (vag-com).

Are you saying it did reset or you suspect it did? Will vagcom tell me actually happened?

    I suspected.
It could be that the comfort controller re-set itself after it malfunctioned, you reset it with the doors closing and opening and turning the ignition off. When the battery in my T5 died (didn't start one morning) I lost central locking, interm. wipers and power windows functions. I jump started and was driving for a day, at the end of they everything was working again except radio of course (needed pin

Could it also be the ignition switch? Not an uncommon problem with the T4 - the van will start but the accessory switch within is kaput so nothing much runs - which also triggers other little alarms. No reason to think that the T5 wouldn't be subject to the same quirk

I have had ths happen about 3 -4 times over the last 2 years, and up till recently had no ideas except that I can tell you that the blinkers work but not the click noise. I now have a suspicion that it is a bad fuse connection in the fuse box near the battery under the bonnet. I have manually moved all of mine and the fault has not reoccurred, but it takes a long time between occurrances so I could still happen again. It can usually be fixed by stopping and removing the keys completely and getting out, then resume the complete sequence and start off again. But it could also be a quirky logic sequence due to doing something that the designers did not think of.

To see this fuse box you must remove the battery cover and you will see a small box down low near the plastic wall partition.

Do you know someone with VCDS (vag-com), it would be interesting to see the scan from the controllers. When there is no click heard inside does the green light in instruments flash at the same frequency or is it faster?

    It doesn't flash at all.

It could be faulty Central Electronic Controller (p/n: 7H0 937 049 AA) to confirm that you need someone with VCDS.

Mine did this again today, but I think I have worked out a simple sequence to sort it out. I had only turned on the ignition and had not started the engine or moved, and was feeling hot so I pressed the aircon button but no light, I verified that the electric windows were also not working.

I turned off the ignition, removed the keys, then opened the drivers door and then manually locked the doors then unlocked them, then closed the drivers door. I then put the keys back in and turned on the ignition, and the aircon light was now working.

At least if this was reliable it would be a work around for the fault.
