Time for a further update and a small rant at VW , had a day off today and decided to change the front lower control arm camber bushes . I took the rego papers to the dealer he confirmed the model via the vin and even printed out an EKTA sheet showing the front end components so the bushes were ordered . They arrived last week and today I removed the lower control arms , so I take the arms up to Jmac to see if he could press the new bushes into the arms . The new ones were still in their packets at this time and Jimmy was not at his workshop so I waited for a short while and opened up the packets to have a look and discover the MONGRELS have sent the REAR ones which are way too big . So back to dealers for a complaint and reorder and then back home to put it back together again GRRRR

Yes, that's always the risk, when you getting the parts. I always warn my customers that, when they get their own parts, especially from the ebay and they're wrong, the job will take much longer, they waste the time and they pay for it.
So far, the parts that I've ordered from the dealer, they were always spot on. I'm lucky I suppose.
But hey, we are all humans and we make mistakes, hmm actually the computer could've make that mistake too.

Yes you are right Ebay can be a problem but it seems the car makers can get it wrong a lot , I ordered sunroof parts from a BMW dealer a few years back and even after being shown the parts on the computer when they arrived many parts were missing from sealed boxes . Then after two more boxes of parts were ordered each box had different parts inside the third one had the parts missing from the first one ?? I don't imagine VW would consider giving a discount for stuffing a customer around .

No, but I'm sure they'll swap them for the correct parts.

They send parts back and forth from the warehouses all the time, so it shouldn't be an issue.

2005 2.0 petrol manual T5 drive train spline question .-img_7474-jpgOkay final update new bushes now fitted a HUGE thank you to Jimmy at Jmac for letting me use his hydraulic press to fit them into the control arms . Now the spline what a dream that was to do whilst the lower control arm was off I just unbolted the drive shaft from the front hub and also removed the two mounting bolts half way along the drive axle . removed the axle with CV's in then there was a hexagonal head bolt inside the main gearbox spline as this was being removed it has a spring which automatically pulls it out of the housing brilliant ! inserted the new shaft and bolted it back into place refitted the axle and DONE! there is virtually no slack in the drive train now much better , a picture of the old part you can see how the splines are so thin at the end compared to the normal thickness at the inner end .2005 2.0 petrol manual T5 drive train spline question .-img_7475-jpg

Thanks Jmac yes I could hear and feel the take up in the drive train when I would down shift strange that it is the DS that has the wear maybe something to do with the old days when you tried to put your old rear wheel drive car into a corner hard , the tendency was to always try for the power slide in a right hand corner HA HA . Thanks again for the use of the press just got to get to the tyre guys for a rotation and alignment .Howard
