Service reminder?
Good Morning fellow VW fans
About to depart for a weekend trip away in my 2003 T4 Transporter diesel.
As I popped the bonnet this very loud audible (3 short bursts then pause then repeat)alarm,
loudest when sitting in the driver s seat, commenced .
What is it?
How do you cancel it? Turned everything on and off , locked and unlocked doors, drove it around the block.
Disconnected the battery and still it goes.
Pulled the immobilizer fuse but nothing.
Must have its own power source??
Help !!!
Anyone.
Please !!

Some one mentioned the bonnet switch on an earlier post but I think it was something to do with putting the wipers in the "parked "position but it was on the newer T5.1 , designed to prevent damage to the bonnet .
When you have a low oil or coolant level light [from memory] appear on the dashboard, opening the bonnet & therefore the switch, tells the van that the driver has at least had a look in the engine to correct the problem. In the UK,[haven't heard of a problem in OZ] corrosion in the switch causes more problems.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Found a bonnet switch in the drivers side corner. Coolant and engine oil levels are right.
On some models brake pad worn to limits operate an audible warning apparently. Corrosion of the wiring seems to be common cause of unwarranted warnings according to T4 site in UK.
Puzzled by the fact that I can't stop the beeping-even with the battery disconnected.
Trip to the dealer workshop for a plug into the diagnostic gear seems the next step.

Beeper stopped.
I added coolant up to the max line, put my earplugs on and took it for a 30 minute drive.
Back home I parked it, shut it down, and the beeper was still beeping.
Came back to it about an hour later and all silent. YAY !
The coolant level was a smidgin below the MIN line when I topped it up (no accompanying light)
Hope that was the problem ,now fixed.
I'll make sure I have a set of industrial strength ear plugs on board for the next few trips.

That sounds encouraging. Repost if the beeping is put to sleep permanently, or at least when you have the correct coolant level.
