    2001 T4 stalling on deceleration

    Hi guys,

I picked up my T4 not long ago and have noticed that occasionally the engine will cut out if I take it out of gear as I approach say the lights/ glossy down a hill or approach a junction. More recent is a minor unwillingness to start - cuts out fast after startingish (though she is fine if I make sure fan and lights are off).

I’m thinking more likely battery, is there a good way to check that. Or otherwise and hopefully not the alternator ...any ideas on troubleshooting and testing...would rather not fork out a new battery straight away 2001 T4 stalling on deceleration thanks

If the alternator light doesn't appear during normal running, it is most likely an intermittent battery fault.
A lot of battery places offer free testing of the battery but I can't vouch for their interpretations of the results!

Ah, that’s good to know I found some handy videos on YouTube for testing battery, plan to do it tomorrow

I would also check the earth cable which connects the engine block to the body . As its not actually cutting out while driving you may not need to worry about the relay issue that T4,s were notorious for .
