1998 T4 - Wireless reverse camera stops when headlights on

    Hi All,

    First time poster.

1998 t4 SWB. Wired up my wireless reversing camera by splicing into the reversing light, and screen by taping into the back of the cig socket in my van. Day time works great. As soon as any of the headlamps or parkers are on it immediately stops transmitting.

Is there some weird voltage drop?

    Any ideas

Wireless ones are susceptible to electrical interference , if they are at the limit of their receiving range then when the lights come on it will block the signal . I get similar thing in my work van , I have a digital portable radio in the back and just below that is my cordless drill charger . When ever I plug a battery in to charge it blocks the signal and the radio stops receiving , I suspect that the frequency you wireless camera is on is close to the same electrical outputs when the light are on as more power is moving through the various wiring looms . Only suggestion is to hard wire it if possible or buy a wired one they are pretty cheap . You could check the voltage level at the point where you have tapped into the wires , use a volt meter and get someone to turn on the lights and see how much variation there is . If there is a large drop that could be the problem but I doubt it would drop that much . How are you seeing the images on the head unit or a dash mount screen or one of those rear view mirror screen in mirror ones .?
