I am actually running oversize rubber on my 18" 255/55/18 as this is a more common size I have found, but it will have an impact on gearing and speedo accuracy. I'm willing to live with both.

I'm running 255/45/103y falken's on mine, cost $270 a corner if I remember correctly. Keeps the ratios the same and doesn't affect the ride imo. I think 255 is about as wide as they will put on a 8" rim. (i think reccommended is 245, but my placard stated 255/45)

No offense Rob but as long as I can remeber Garret Turbos have been one of the industry leaders in Turbo technology I think if I remember they have been around for a lot longer than the Turbos being fitted to VW,s correct me if I am wrong . You can check this link for more testing info TurboByGarrett.com - Why Garrett . I am not sure about every aspect of life but I do now that Australia is notorious for prices being highly inflated compared top the rest of the world . Just last night my wife showed me a brochure and price list for a Power Pack for one of our kids wheel chairs[its a device to make pushing the wheel chair easier ] any way Australian supplier $3350 available from the UK $1600 including freight , now I don,t know about you but I have seen too many examples of high prices charged here in Australia when the same items are available OS . ditto on the import. I just imported wheels from the UK. VW wheels, with postage and custom fees and still half price. Garret turbos all the way, they probably actually make the VW ones anyway.

Will look at the falkens, any other brands do the 255/45 with the 103w/y?

    just to upset you boys.

No offense taken Howard thats what the was about....

I have bought so much stuff and shipped it over you would not believe it. (Vehicle and household.)

I might sound like a winging POM but I can get stuff half the price from OS including shipping so I am going to do it.

    Back to the subject...

    The wheels look smart....good purchase!!

***** EDIT ******** updated my comments regarding Robs post above - Clearly I misread the comment, sorry mate - all good !

Anyways, OT - Try the Kumho KU39s ... actually any tyres in the Kumho range are a good option in my opinion, I have used Kumhos in the past and always been happy with them. Depending on where you are there are a couple of suppliers up here in Brissy who do great prices.
