I've heard of it, but it's not very common.
I own an 09 transporter ive always had it serviced and used vw oil i put it in at vw campbelltown for a service (140k) and they told me that the lobes on the camshaft were worn and that they found oil in the cylinder head ended up costing me just under 6k. How can this happen at 140k ive lost all my faith in vw now. Im selling it. Anyone else had this happen to them

Back around 2011 our T5 showed signs that the cam shaft was on its way out with a noise , lucky for us it turned out to be a bearing failure in the air con compressor . Mind you it took a whole day for the dealers to diagnose the noise , I feel your pain ours only had 120000 on the clock at the time . Ironic at the time when they did the repair how money seems to not bother the dealers , I paid $3600 for the air con and service and then was told at the pick up time that the turbo was leaking oil . The service rep seemed almost totally unemotional when he told me it would only cost $6500 for a new one , what pee's me of these days it that dealers will not repair anything anymore . It's all about components they have the individual parts but will not do the repair just unbolt a whole item and replace it . Sob I miss the old days .
Im hearing you..i picked it up yesterday its going great now so fun to drive,im off to melbourne boxing day however i get the feeling the next 5k repair is just around the corner hence why it is up on car sales. I certainly wont be going back to the dealership again thats for sure.
Thanks
