    DSG Reversing up hill

    G'day,

As I have a Caddy Maxi Life I am posting this here.

I am looking for some tips on reversing up hill with a DSG.

At the moment it is great kangaroo hops and it will not end well.

It is really an issue when having to reverse uphill out of a parking bay in a car park. The Hill Hold gets activated but what happens is that it holds and holds while I depress the throttle more and more. Then the Hill Hold releases and it is look out. If I don't depress the throttle then when it releases it goes forward.

The only way around this I can see is to use the hand brake and use it to stop rolling forward and the transmission to move back, all the time trying to avoid activating the hill hold.

Anyone who has used a DSG for a while have any suggestions?

    Have it checked.

I had an A3 which did the same. Turned out to be a dud mechatronics unit.

    Hi

My driveway is on an incline so I do what you're having issues with daily. I don't have issues with either my caddy maxi or my golf both with DSG although I do find that with the caddy I need to feather the throttle a bit more to reverse it smoothly.

Did you end up getting yours looked at?

Not yet. Things have been hectic since getting back. I have learned how to control things a lot better with the hand brake. I am hoping to organise a service shortly. It all depends on when things quieten down.

I find keeping your foot on the gas pedal helps. Reverse and get it done quickly, it doesn't like to reverse slow!
My K1 clutch is gone now tthough... 30k only
