Hmmm, welcome.
Our VW Caddy Tdi 2006 has intermittent cruisecontrol cutting out. It appears to be worse with warmer weather. Is this likely to be a module or do I look for more sinister causes? Where is the module situated?

Have you noticed whether it happens after a bump in the road? My T5 disengages after a decent bump. It happens if the bump is severe enough to activate the ESP (ESP light also flashes momentarily). I presume it is a safety feature for people who are having a little 'snooze' with the CC on and run into 'changing' road conditions

I'll vote for a faulty CC control stalk - VW had a bad batch a while back.
Besides the dodgy brake light switch mentioned by Lams another possible cause is the micro-switch in the bonnet catch (it detects whether the bonnet is closed/open) has also been known to interfere with CC.
If you aren't covered by warranty and want to save money some people have managed to dismantle the switch on the CC control stalk to clean up the on/off contacts and get theirs working again, but I got the impression it was a bit fiddly.
Please let us know how you get on.

Dismantling the switch assembly is best left for those with steady hands and a lot of patience. Given that it's a 2006 model, there's a chance it's still under warranty. Take it to the dealer, and demonstrate your concerns.
It's near on impossible to diagnose a fault like this over the internet.

It does the same thing in my Caddy. However i was under the impression that it was to do with the traction control, because it needs to be a pretty severe bump, and must have to be enough to unweight the front wheels, they spin a bit and it cuts out.
I say this because it's done the same thing when i hit some heavy water on the road. The front end got light, started to wheelspin (slight aquaplane) and the cruise cut out..

Possibly, Preeny, but I don't think so in my case. The 4Motion keeps the traction under control. Also (for me) it takes a reasonable bump, but not huge, so I don't think I'd be inducing wheelspin.
Actually, maybe it's both. There's probably a few 'failsafe' type cut-outs on cruise control.

Thanks for all those comments,
It does appear to be temperature (outside) related.
Not related to bumps in the road.
Stalk could be a culprit.
Vehicle is out of warranty
I'll try to check it out.
Thanks for your inputs.
After testing for 3 weeks I dare say that it is fixed.
I flicked the stalk switch several times with my fingernail thinking that it would do no more harm. NO PROBLEM SINCE !!! I guess a track was formed on circuitboard or switch. Must have saved a heap
