Hi guys
I have a 2005 caddy just been told it will cost nearly $300 for a new clock spring plus fitting to fix a problem with my horn not working.
Seems like a lot of money just to have a horn!
took it in to see why my cruise control was not working told the clock spring may or may not have anything to do with that problem
has anyone any instructions to remove the steering wheel to have a good look at the problem??
heard the problem with cruise control may be the switch in the stalk, any experience there appreciated

a problem with the cruise control could be related to faulty clutch or brake switches, as well as the stalk.
Horn not working could be the clock spring, but it could also be the horn...
I swapped my steering wheel with a multifunction wheel from a Comfortline Golf, and I used the original clock spring. They do look a little fragile
For the first time, just this week I noticed my buttons were not lit and my steering wheel buttons stopped working. The horn didn't work either
Then the next time I turned the car on, everything's been working normal. I may have the same problem as you, but until it plays up again, I can't really do anything about it.
Wherea re you located? I have a VCDS and can see if the control units on the car has picked up any faults...
300 dollars seems to be way to price for a caddy clock spring! Should have fine more cheaper parts.
Has the cruise control and horn worked previously?
If not, chances are the steering column electrics module hasn't been coded correctly. Also, the engine control module may not have been coded to suit cruise control either. Clutch and brake switches are also common.
I wowuldn't go messing with the clockspring to be honest. They're quite fragile internally, and need to be aligned correctly if they've been removed.
