Vw Amarok 2012 oil pressure issue

    Afternoon everyone,

After abit of advice if anyone can help.

Got a 2012 Amarok that’s had the oil pressure light keep coming on, I’ve had the switch, filter and a new oil pump put in but just got a back from the mechanic and the light is still coming on, it seems to be running absolutely fine but I’ve no idea why I’m still getting the light?

You need a good quality scanner and see what the fault codes are. Otherwise you are are just playing spare parts lottery.
I think Supercheap will scan it for a fee, also Racq can scan it for you.

I would think the next logical step would be to check the oil pickup. What engine does your car have? If yours is the petrol 4 cylinder then the oil pickup is reasonably common to get blocked with debris (as well as silicon/sealant if the car has been worked on in the past). You will have ot drain your freshly replaced oil, but capture it in a bottle and you can reuse it.

Another think to check, once again if you have the petrol 4 cylinder engine, is the cam bridge. There is a filter screen in the cam bridge which is well known to fall out/fall apart/get blocked and then it starves the camshafts of oil pressure. I had a friend with a Golf GTI have the cam bridge fail with no warning and it ruined his engine - cost him about $11k to get a replacement engine sourced and fitted.
