Larger tyres for offroading

Gday everyone. Looking to put some 33" or 35" tyres on my 2015 4cyl rok. I have HD shocks and a 50mm HD coil in the front. Any recs/advice for some larger tyres? Cheers

Hi Luke, what size rims do you have? Factory, steelies or aftermarket? What offset are they and do you have a lift kit in your Amarok. All of this affects what rubber you can put on the rock.
35’s or even 37’s are doable if you are prepared to spend and or do a bit of work.
Let me know where you are at and what realistic plans budget you have.
265x70 R17 will fit factory rims with no lift, just over 32’s

At the moment im running aftermarket R18s but im looking to change to some 15 or 16 steelies. I do have a 2 inch lift in the front. My budget is 1500-2000. I dont really need something as huge as a 37, 33 will suit me just fine as a 35 and above will require new flares and some cutting which is too much hassle. Thanks lloyd.

Remember fitting quite larger tyres will lower your speedo reading quite a bit. EG a 45mm larger diameter will lower the reading by more than 5kph. Was going to do that on a POLO which read 7 over and it was illegal so just lived with it

Not sure if you being sarcy or not but was trying to be helpful and as you want them for off road it probably wont matter. But if used on the road it will and will also up your gearing so will be a bit sluggish off the mark maybe

You can’t put 15” rims on the Amarok
Minimum size for 4cyl is 16”, minimum size for V6 is 17”

This is the most current information on what tyres you can fit and what offset rim and any other modifications that you need to be able to complete it.

-265/70 16, stock rim, no issue, no lift, no poke.
-265/75 16, pos 20, no lift, no issue, will poke with no flares, good with flares.
-265/75 16, pos 25, no lift, no issues, 15mm poke even with flares.
-265/75 16, pos 30, no lift, no issue, 10mm poke with flares.
-285/75 16, pos 20, 35mm suspension and 25mm body lift, scrubs on full lock, 20mm poke even with flares.
-285/75 16, pos 30, 50mm suspension, scrubs on full lock, no poke with flares.
-285/75 16, pos 34, no lift, minor scrubbing, no poke with flares.

-265/70 17, stock rim, 30mm suspension, 25mm body lift, no issue, no poke.
-265/70 17, pos 30, 50mm suspension, no issues, will poke with no flares, good with flares.
-265/70 17, pos 20, 50mm suspension and 25mm body lift, no issues, no poke with flares.
-285/70 17, pos 20, 50mm suspension, scrub on full lock, 15mm poke even with flares.
-295/70 17, pos 20, 50mm suspension and 43mm body lift, trim front and back wheel arch, slightly rubbing on full lock, 25mm poke even with flares.
-318/64 17, pos 15, 35mm suspension and 25mm body lift, minor scrubbing, very close to UCA, 20mm poke with bushwacker flares.

18”

-265/65 18, stock rim, no lift, no issue, no poke with flares.
-265/65 18, pos 35, 35mm suspension, no issues, no poke with flares.

If you really want to do a 35” tyre, kenda do a 35x10.5R17 that will fit a standard rim and shouldn’t be a body lift as it’s quite narrow.
Not cheap though.

All good Luke, if you can find a cheap or second hand set of positive 20ish steel rims, you can easily get your 33”” tyres.
If you keep your 18” rims you can get 265x70R18 which is a bees Di ck under 33

This is great information lloyd, can I ask for a little more detail to be sure I am reading the information correctly.

I have just purchased 17" aftermarket rims with +30 offset for my stock 2016 Amarok 2.0 BiTdi to freshen up look and now looking at tyre options. I would like to fit all terrain tyres to give it a chunkier look, I could fit 245/65 17's to be safe but a bit of extra height/width would be nice, however I do not want to make any mods to suspension.

From the info you posted, I assume you mean the 265/70 17 tyre would require a 50mm suspension lift kit in order to fit without issues?
Would a 265/65 17 tyre fit with the +30 offset fit without any mods?
