Problem with 20"s are that you lose a lot of height in the sidewall of the tyre which given the hard suspension on the Roks, ruins the ride IMO. I picked the middle ground with 18"s for that reason.

Performance mods are coming ..... ..... be patient a few months more ..... hoping for 190+kw and 400+NM from a tune only but this is subject to small differences between the Amarok TSI engines and MK6 GTI TSI engines ..... which there are a few of.

Already confirmed MK6 GTI tune will not work on the Amarok without recalibration. (which is due April/May ish)

I agree with Sharkie, I was scared about ruining the ride with 20's, I'm not a big wheels kinda guy. Luckily I have high quality tyres and I was surprised the ride barely suffered compared with the stock 16's. If you start with cheaper/heavier rims and harder rubber etc etc then you may have issues on your hands.

As for the tune! I'm in 100%, ready when you are etc etc etc. I have started getting itchy feet, but if April/Mayish is a realistic timeline then i'm gonna sit tight! I should order those R8 coils already!

To answer the Op's question about load rating, i'm super dooper and thanks for asking!

My opinion is that thin spokes don't really work well with a ute that big, best to go for some X5/Range Rover style wheels.

Having said that, it is your car so feel free.
Yeah, I originally wanted to use the BMW x5 20's cause I have a soft spot for oem wheels, but out of the very few modded Amaroks I've seen, a good chunk have x5 alloys. So just trying for something different. I'll see how the lm's go. I might hate them too. Lol

Yeah I've tossed up on wheel sizes. But getting out of this into the rok; I'm sure the lower profile tyres won't bother me lol

Am 100% keen on some performance mods

Some other tuners have published figures and availability for the TSI Amarok's recently, however they are still to confirm if they actually tuned TSI Amarok's or merely applying the numbers from the MK6 GTI (in the hope it will be the same).

APR has confirmed the stock code is completely different between the MK6 GTI and the TSI Amarok and will not put the tuned MK6 GTI (or Tig) files on the Amarok without recalibration.

TSI Amarok runs a different exhaust valve cam (part number wise) so a full calibration is the go to be safe.

APR's calibrator will do the TSI Amaroks as well when he comes out to do the MK7 Golf R which should be April/May depending on when the MK7 R is released.

At the same time it is likely that Stg 1 and Stg2 will both be done as I will have a full stainless 3" turbo back exhaust ready

Stg3 (K04 turbo) sometime later this year also VERY likely ..... ..... 250kw/500NM Amarok anyone?
