When no matter what you do the window winder cranks will eventually break or let you down some how.

Sick of continuously breaking the cheap Brazillian cranks, I bought a set of chrome like ones from a member here. All right, I says, these aren't gonna snap like the crappy other ones. Except the new ones are ever so slightly bigger than the bit they connect to on the actual winder mechanism in the door. So after several months of it slipping and coming loose every now and again, the teeth inside the handle have been stripped so they no longer grip. Grrrrrr.

What do others do for a sustainable crank mechanism?

PS, what's the proprer word for the 'teeth' inside the handle? I knew it then forgot. Damn brain.

    EDIT: it's SPLINE!!

BMW, Audi and Volvo cranks work well.

Fix your windows first though, chances are they're not sliding as freely as they should and you're having to use too much effort, thus breaking the handles.

    The teeth are called splines.

Cheers Pete. I dare say the regulators etc could do with some attention. If only I had the time to dedicate a fews hours to this. Getting the door cards off and on in one piece could be an issue.

You have been MK1 less for only a week and really miss the smell/noise/feel of the old cars...

Must have a remedy for this feeling soon!

When you keep breaking pins trying to adjust/unblock the driver's side windshield washer outlet. The passenger side works perfect (of course), but the driver's side has three settings: too high, too low and blocked

You decide you are going to rely on your car to get you somewhere on time - and then it decides to lunch another fuel pump.

What on earth is killing those fuel pumps? Are they new? Do you have a filter before the pump? It could be a rusty tank and no pre-filter. Standard the k-jet tanks (or diesel tanks) only have an in-tank strainer that doesn't seem to effectively stop what is effectively iron filings passing through your pump.
