You know you're to old to own a MKI when you are considering selling it cause its taking up space. (Man thats gonna be a hard day, but not as hard as my 1600 Kombi sale....)

thought i'd kick start this thread again.....

You know you drive a Mk1 when people approach you in carparks wanting to tell you about one that they once owned and how they regret selling it.

You know you drive a Mk1 when even when it's covered with dust and spluttering up the street (been sitting in the shed for a year) people on the street are still checking it out.

You know you drive a mk1 when you want to change engines because solex carbies are a piece of ****

Seriously I have been using mine for post office runs and it is growing on me to the point I have actually started to "want" to work on it

hey guys thought i would add to the list,
When you buy a mk1 and then expect it to drive 80ks back to your house, fully prepared for it to break down many times and then you only break down 7times and run out of water twice. trying to get out of the way of the traffic on the m5 doing 120 and the only place you can go is on the inside medium strip where you have to try and start the damn thing after it stalled again and try to merge back into 120k traffic in the rain at 630 in the dark.

you know you own a mk1 when you actually have 2 so you can replace the crap bits from one with another.

you know you own a mk1 diesel when you drop your formal date off after the big night and leave her in a massive puff of black smoke.
