    The C35 scat grind has
    .381" lift @ the lobe
    285 degree's advertised duration
    246 degree's duration @ 0.050" (unknown lobe centre!)

That's a mean cam duration wise (3800rpm+ start of power!) for a golf, but the lift is way off. I'd get your machinist to recheck it.
It should have at least .440" to .450" lift. with 108 - 110 degree's lobe centre.

For interest, my 270 degree cam has .449" lift & 112 lobe centre.

Check this page for a comparison & you'll see what I mean.

    got pics on phone tonight

not sure on all cam specs . it idled at about 1000 to 1200 rpm
it has less lift than standard cam but head was built to suit
power starts at 3000 3500 rpm to about 7500 8000 rpm lots of
    fun!!!!

Look's like your machinist does nice work!
    Smooth job on the port's.
Pity you can't do any more valve relief work due to the head gasket bore size as this would make a huge difference!

Sorry for questioning your cam spec's, but when you said it was a air cooled grind spec it was alittle bit weird.

Remember with a aircooled engine you have ratio rocker arms to direct & increase movement onto the valve's, where as the golf cam is direct onto the valve.

A C35 with .381" lift @ the lobe & 1.25 ratio rocker arms you will have 476" lift @ the valve.
    I'd still double check though.

my mate made the cam at a big adelade
mach shop and thats the cam profile he
used ( he had the golf for 18 years ) but
when i had it redone cause of pitting the
machinest couldn't identify it so he made a
profile of it (and didn't charge me cause want
keep the profile) ex and in have .366 lift and
both have 245 of duration . its not the norm
but it went very well till head gave out, hence
the rebuild. thanks for the link
