    The answer is............

    RESTORE!

I have a set of doors and guards

which came of this car four years ago

some rust in the body, some rust in the panels.... WHo knows why??

I suspect a bit of repair will be required to the base of the LHS A pillar but nothing else (touch wood)
The door cards have been painted black and will need to be carefully stripped. Also I think the carpet is not original.

I would love to start again with a 2-door, plastic dash, bolt through vent windows and piece it together perfectly.

My first mk1 was exactly the same. 4 door in that blue. i love that colour! beautiful vw blue. Unfortunately I wrote it off, but kept a few panels I think. Pretty sure I have the drivers side door in the same blue

    save for sure!

apart from the hanging panels, it looks super tidy!

I'd love to buy it and restore it myself, but I've got no where to store it till I'd have time/space to fix it! (Too many other projects atm)

Glad your decided to save it.

Hopefully the front floors and the lower A pillar/sill area is ok rust wise, cause it does looks pretty tidy!
