You'll need the k-jet fuel pump and plumbing too, it runs mote than twice the fuel pressure. I think the K-jet swirl pot (plastic box the fuel pump sits in) is different because the pump is bigger.

Now this could be the problem. At the mo, the car runs for 5 seconds and then dies. Could be fuel, or something electronic.

I have tried it with a commodore vl fuel pump and no inline fuel regulator, just the one next to the metering head and it has the above symptoms.

Then I tried the fuel pump and regulator from the early gti kjet system and it seemed to run for a second longer, but still did the same thing. This is all with the later electronic fuel injected system.

I can rip it all out and put kjet, but I still need to get a loom made up and is it really progress?

Any help or words of wisdom gratefully accepted.

I have a few alternatives, but am seeking guidance. help me wise ones.

    1. Get the audi 1.9 factory loom working. Have been trying for two months and there is still too much spaghetti wiring.

    2. I have an early jetronic system from an audi 80, 1986, which is a very simple loom and has an early computer. Will this work with a different engine code?

    3. I can rob the kjet system from an early cabrio gti, but I have no loom. There are not many connectors, but presumeably the isv and the connector by the fuel distributor still need power?

Help me please guys, or I`m gonna make up an adaptor and whack a big carby on.

Nice one for your email roccodingo, that is a pretty clear diagram.

The only bit I dont understand is the thermo switch for the cold start valve. Are they connected in serial or parrallel? The diagram shows power coming from the starter solenoid to the cold start valve, that makes sense, but then does the wire go to the thermoswitch and then to earth or what?

Help appreciated here guys, I have tried three looms on this motor today and am now halfway through installing simple kjet. If I can sort these wires tomorrow morning, I`ll be going cruising. If not, I`ll be making an adaptor plate and whacking on a carby.

    HELP ME PLEASE

OK, the power going from the ign switch ( 50) to the starter solenoid (50) has a take off, going to the cold start valve, and in parallel to the thermo time switch. ( shown as red with black trace ), this allows power to warm up the thermo time switch bi metallic strip,

The other side of the cold start valve goes to earth via the thermo time switch..ie when the time switch has sufficiently warmed up, then it breaks the earth flow for the cold start valve.. ( from memory something like 5 or 8 seconds..)

    HTH, ..

Good to hear you dropped in on Bill, how is he going working for himself ??, its a big move..
