I reckon you need the wiring diagram to check for both hi and low speed power getting to the motor.
Brown is earth, the other connections are green but I can't remember what they all do.

I'm going to try and get the red 3door road worthy and rego'ed so i can take it to the SE Watercooled thingo in a few weeks.
There are only a few things to do, the main one being geting it to run properly, and another is geting the wiper to work properly.
At the moment it only has one speed and for road worthy it needs all the speed settings to work.
Can i get any suggestions as to what the issue may be? The car is not at the house im living it atm so i dont want to go back and forth looking for solutions, i want to try everything at once haha. So far the only thing we have had time to try is replacing the motor, which didnt work.
Any help is welcome.

There is a main circuit through the fusebox that corrodes and breaks, fix that and loads of other stuff will work better.
Crack the fusebox open and clean everything and solder where appropriate.

I'll be interested in this too. I've found that some positions of the wiper control will not work where others will, they used to work but are slowly dropping off.
Is this more likely due to bad/broken connections within the wiper control unit itself as it is a graduale breakdown or something else?

I've done some breif searching and the first thing people say to go for is the relays as they control the wiper speeds. If that doesnt work and there is an issue with the wipers being 'stuck' on one speed, either fast or slow, than look at the stalk and other electricals. If there is an issue with the wiper motor than the wipers will work slugishly or not at all.
Here is a link on how to clean your wiper motor so it works smothly:

2 options for slow wipers.
- Mk2 wiper motor
- Add in a fuse/relay with some decent wiring, can be mounted in the rain tray.
Hi
I've had the same issue with 12 volt Beetle wipers, the brushes in the motor are held in tension buy tinny little springs, these springs can get affected buy heat and not hold the brush on tightly against the armature.
1st thing to do is check if this is your problem is to see that your getting power at the motor in each position, if not it could be your switch.
BTW, running your wipers when the screen is dry will cause these springs to get hot and loose tension.

Fan of anything with a VW or Audi badge, but I like my air with a dash of H2O
Ignition switch also may be suspect.
