i have 15x7 +20 (et) all round with 165/55/15 and they are about perfect, slight rub on front only because its slammed.
I have trawled the forum to see if i can fit vsome 15 x 8 et 25 to the front and 15 x 9 et 15 to the rear with 205 45 15 rubber running some hottuning coil overs.I still get confused with this et thing. cheers

Yes and No.
Yes you can make them fit, not they wont fit straight on.
They are very aggressive specs! 9" on a mk 1 is quite alot!
I think you'd need a 195/45 up front (or even a 185/45)
WIth a bit of additional camber a 205 may fit on the rear, but you're probably better off with a 195/45
Rolled arches and some camber are a must! (however the front fitment should be close to but just clear the front strut)
cheers for the advice guys,so i neeed differnt rubber to get it to work? they would look phat tho and its only a weekend cruiser

Yep, the wheels will fit, just becareful on the tyres size. Test fit some rubber if possible!
See if you can find some info on Stu's white/carbon 16V as well dude, that was rocking 9inch rears I'm pretty sure, with a lot of guard rolling.
Should give you an idea on the fit you can achieve though. Maybe even PM and ask him what tyres he ran or something. I think they where Falken's from memory, not sure on sizing though.
they were 215/35, and they were also 16's.
Going from 15 to 16's is quite a leap on a mk 1! (IMO)
There we go then haha ^^
Yeah, still same width though, however I realise fitment might be a bit different with the extra height of the wheels..
I'm with you though, bit of a leap! Much prefer 15s. 16 are hard to get sitting right if at all. That said..
I do love that car haha.
cheers guys, does anyone know what low profile you can get on these?I have 15 x 6.5 at the mo with 195 60 15 rubber as they didnt sell a lowe profile tyre.

From memory the available tyres are:
165/50
165/55
175/50
185/45
195/45
195/50
and I think 205/45
205/50.
I think there is also a 155/60 as well, but you'd have to double chec.
Most of these sizes, excepy for a 195/50 are generally pretty obtuse, so I'd imagine you will have dificulty finding them.
Check out tyrestretch.com for some pics of all the stretch, so you can see what you're getting yourself into!
