best way to do it is to take it too a place that does widened/custom wheels.
The process ( I believe this to be the safest, most proper way) is to machine out the centres and then the centres are welded onto a completely new band. This way you can coose how wide and which offset you want, and you can polish the lips, knowing they'll be in perfect nick!
You can also go from a (for example) 13" centre to a 14" band, If you wanted to roll on a larger diameter.
I dont know any places off the top of my head, but your best bet is to try and find a place like wheelFX (I think that's the place, in sydney though) they do wheel repairs and stuff like that.
