should be alrite...depends how low you go. You may need to flare the arches and/or roll the lips - more for peace of mind than anything else. also depends on tyre profile.

and and um, are they the globes?

I'm WRONG. I forgot that my wheel arch lips are folded back to allow for the big tires!

    Valver is right.

I've got another question regarding wheel fitment. I'm thinking of buy a set of 15 x 7's with ET13 that are available on e-bay. I wont be lowering the car too much (Mk1 Golf), most likely similar in height to the pics below (again, pics from the rat rod thread). Any idea if the wheels will stick out similar???

That car is lowered hugely (in the realm of 4-5 inches) and they are 13x9s, so not the best example!!

You will need a good amount of arch work and careful tyre choice to get the wheels you describe to fit

for 15's with a slammed car... i would go a tyre choice of 165

195 on any 7 inch rim with a very lowerd car would give minimal guard clearance, whereas 165 would give tyre curve and give no rubbing and turn clearance

Thanks guys for the responses. Unfortunately, the rims are anything but cheap, and lipping guards etc may require repainting so it may be more trouble than they are worth.

So the hut continues for good wheels I guess

Guys, I've seen this sort of thing many times (pic attached, again from the rat rod thread), how does one go about doing this? It looks like a standard VW wheel center welded to a new 'rim' but with alot of dish. Is this correct? Also, notice how there is a dip in the dish about half way, kinda like it has a 2-step dish to it. Any reason for it?

Anyone know what it costs to get this welded up (if that is how you do it)? Something like this would suit my Mk1 very nicely (perhaps even powder coated black with whitewalls).
