dude rolling gaurds is sooooo easy!! just get a gnarly offset with loads of poke, and push dem gaurds nice and high so they shape nicely around the rear wheels and slighly looser on front..

And generally cops wont pull you over and messure your wheels up, they'll pull you over if they LOOK to pokey.. SOOO back to my rolling of the gaurds you can roll them, +15 offset or maybe even 0 (umm ahh) and stretch the tyres.. as long as those gaurds sit over most of the tyre you shouldn't have a problem

what wheels are those steve, they look pretty nice. can anybody suggest some nice 13 wide wheels.
josh, when you roll the guards, are you just pulling that lip out or am i way off. would i need to use spacers or does that just depend on the offset. thanks for all the help everybody.

i got my 14" steel wheels widened from 5" to 7" for around $120 (i think) per wheels.
14" and 15" are good to widen because there are many low profile and narrow (for that extra stretch ) tyres to choose from.

I was looking into widening the stock 13" steelies, and from the research i did, there were no low profiles tyres in Melbourne which i wanted to put on....having said that, DubSteve's GTI looks awesome. What were the specs of the wheels and tyres?

the flat edge on the gaurd needs to be heated up and pressed to the INSIDE wall of the gaurd. so that is a neat fold and doesn't change the exterior of appearence.. THEN when you lower it on to stretched tyres, it won't scrub against a sharp edge but a flat smooth one if you need it lower again, first remove paint from gaurds (as it will crack and chip anyway) and use a heat gun and a mallet, and evenly tap from the inside of the gaurd causing the the gaurds further out and flatter. once you get the desired shape, apply primer and paint. it is a bit of work but it allows you to have a wider wheel without the risk of being defected
