    Why is it ...

    That the idle speed will increase up to 700 RPM's if I pump the brake pedal fast, while the car is idling? Does this indicate a fault? Do all MK1's do this?

    Help appreciated!

    you will find most cars will do this
    your stealing vacuum from the engine
    because the brake booster uses the vacuum
    so the more you pump it the more it uses and the
    loss of vacuum will change the idle
