Where do I find the VIN plate?

My MK1 has a repainted engine bay with no VIN plate. Is there another location for a plate anywhere else on the car?

I couldn't find anything in the boot or door frames either.

Driver side shocker tower towards the inside of the bay, or the center of the rain tray, but yours should be on the tower. Try running a wire wheel over it but musk off where you don't want to expose any bare metal.

as petska mentioned, if it's in the rain tray, it's just in from the front lip. if it has one, you may have to peel back the plastic tray to find it, although they/mine have a clear section to see the number

First place I looked was the rain tray. Lots of nice shiny paint.

Looks like I'll have to power up the dremel.

VIn is on the drivers strut tower on normal mk1's and raint tray in cabbies
