    When Money and Time Permit

I'm currently sorting out what i should do with my mk1 golf or plan to do. I'm wondering whether to eventually upgrade the 1.6 motor since its been around and replace it with a similar or larger like the 1.8 or just keep it. Also the carbuerettor looks close to being on the way out and need suggestions on where to head there.

Also i need to find a good upholster as the vinyl seats have cracked in a few places but i dont want replace them as they are mostly intact.

I've also need some help with some other issues. currently when i drive in the high rev range, the bracket or such under the engine or car rattles, and quite noticeable as it can be heard inside. So i try to drive with out going through the whole rev range to try an avoid this as i dont want to do any damage. Is this something that should be checked. Also since the suspension in my car isn't what it used to be, the boot lid and lock seem to take a hammering and bang up and down, no an impressive feature, so is this common or do i need a new lock and where from.

Finally the rear light assemby and backing is falling apart and sometimes when I brake to hard the indicators stop working from the lights falling out of the sockets, which is not a good idea when changing lanes, or turning.

Even though i got these proble.. I mean set backs, i still love driving her everyday, definitely the coolest car on the road, unless I see another mk1 which I've only spotted two. I'd like to know or see more that are out there.

    Thanks

    Mk1

Im only new to the forum but i used to own a Mk1 and sound's like the rattle at high rpm is the front engine mount i had a similar sound in my dub i ended up customising my front mount with a polyurethane bushing and mount. As for the moding of the 1.6 i recommend instaling a straight through exhaust from the dual downpipes and a larger carby with pod filter

    welcome matey

all those things are an easy fix

as far as engine conversions go, the 1.8 upgrade is a good one, as 1.8's out of mk3's and Seats are easy to find and cheap

dont bother with another stock carby, I reccommend either a DGV Weber or a DCOE, both will increase performance significantly!

Yup, I remember this car. The most fun auto to drive ever. It used to just go to 80kph in first, then you would lift your toae and boot it again and it would go all the way round in second.

I think I got it in 03 and the car was sold complete in 04. I wonder where it is now. It was a swallowtail and the paintjob was not bad for a home job.

Get another one Froggagolf and rejoin the fun
