    What motor for my mk1?

    Hey everyone,
I have a mk1 gls with a 1.6 carb 8v and a 4 speed box. The motor has mega high kms on it now so its time for a rebuild or something else. Im thinking ill just fit a later model motor as i also want a 5 speed box.
What would be a good conversion for me? I want better performance and dont mind goin efi. Is there a motor from a later model golf that will bolt in?
Anyone have a motor and box for sale? Im in Sydney and am happy to come pick it up.
    Thanks,
    Alex.

    2L EFI From a Golf 3??
I have several, youd also need the wiring loom, fusebox and ecu. But on the plus side our Mk1 would then have bright lights and fast wipers
    And a fast engine

I know how hard it is to come by in Australia, but you cannot beat a 2.0 16v in a mk1. Anyone who has ever experienced this will tell you the same. It truely is an awesome combination. I just got tingles thinking about it!

At the lights, you would literally obliterate 90% of the cars out there. To say its quick is an understatement, its RAPID!

Does anyone know what a 1.8T is like in a mk1, by that i mean how much quicker it is? I imagine the work and costs involved in doing this conversion would be a hell of alot more. what do you guys reckon?
