if it actually lets go and the bearings come out then you will be on the side of the road!!!!!!!
I've broken a couple of the balls racing but never all of them, either way better to do it sooner than later
A outer CV joints decides it hates life and explodes all over the road?
Curious to know as i got a CV joint that clicks now and then, and i plan on lowering the car which from what ive read can be harder on the joints. What actually happens when one lets go? is the car still able to limp home, or will the shaft just openly spin due to the open centre diff?

Good excuse to weld the diff too? Then if one blows at least you might get home.
Had this happen in my mk3 yesterday, pin came out of the box and punched a hole in the bell housing. To answer your question yeah it'll still move but not easily and you may need a neck brace when you're done![]()
Only know from four wheeling experience, but, generally when you shatter one, it's a no drive affair, steering is adversely effected as the chipping and gunk builds up and eventually you kill the housings...
Beauty of 4wd in a way, you can still get home!
