    That's not great news. Sounds like it I'd guess that you have a loose nut on the linkage?

    I went to replace some fuel line and found out I bought the wrong diameter hose do now the car is stranded until tomorrow.

    Replaced the fan belt only to find the mounting bracket for the alternator is out of wack...now to find a new bracket.

    mine bent too, I'll be picking up a previously repaired spare, so maybe if it works I might put up some pics of how to 'fix' it.

    had to re-attach the accel. cable to the rubber grommit on the pedal (twice) whilst on the Club run.....whilst I've recently fitted a new grommit and accel.cable, is there any secret to keeping these buggers together and not separating ??

    There is a special clip, which you clearly dont have.

    Fixed the reverse problem. There is a mount half way along the rod that runs next to the zorst and the two bolts that hold it together had both fallen out. All fixed now. I love my MK1....most of the time
    MK1 floG soon to have 16v 2L with cable change gbox - need a 16v turbo manifold

    ah ha....and here was me thinking it was VW's rapid decline in design during the '70's.... pity J & F didn't sell me one with the rest of the outfit !! Got them in stock by any chance Matty (or prob. not worth the postage)??

    changed the fuel filter and air only to find my air filter covered in oil, time for mods i guess.....

    Had a service and a relay fitted on the starter motor so I don't get that "no start when hot" little episodes anymore - well I hope so anyway

    Also heard from my contact in the US that the little rubber seals, that go around my door handles, are on their way
