Finally got round to taking the front guard off and sealing up water leak (i hope ) while I was at it I fitted a new aerial.
Fitted new rear engine/gearbox mount and fixed an exhaust rattle!
4 out of 4! With no new problems! (I love it when that happens )

Replaced the crappy, ever breaking, feeble Brazilian window winder handles with some steel ones.
Re-glued (yet again!!!!) the left vent window into position (finally) as it was only held in place with packing tape! Any one have any strategies for making the glue hold so that the windows are actually functional? I know a lot of people seal up the whole window, but is there a less permanent/irreversible way to go?
Next: find a way to get the car to a VW mechanic as it's overdue for a service and I work full-time.

I have a drivers side cabby quarter vent if you like?
Let me know Stephen.
Does anyone know what is needed to change to quarter vents over to ones from a cabby? Do you need to change the seals to a different type?
Cheers.

I have a long list of jobs to do on the car (and the other vehicles in the household), but some things have to be redone on a regular basis. Yesterday I refitted the GTI spoiler - unfortunately a regular job, as it has a bad habit of hitting driveways and the like. (maybe I should return it to factory GTI height)
Also fitted a new hose from the thermostat housing to metal pipe and a new metal pipe. Bit of a fiddle but hopefully no more little leaks
