    back to stock...

so maybe not today, but lately, i've been doing a few things on the mk1. i fixed the exhaust, put normal struts back in it instead of the coilovers and i've replaced the DGV carb with a dellorto DHLA.

also, i fixed the rust in the a-pillars and painted the windscreen surround matt black, for something different.

the car abo****ely is a ball of fun to drive - responsive, brakes are top notch (mk3 booster, gti discs/calipers and cordoba drums) and the handling is just wonderful with koni adjustables in the rear and sachs super tourers in the front, with spax sport springs and a fat, front mounted anti-roll bar on the front. also, i've made up a HUGE lower stress brace, and also a HUGE uppoer stress brace.... pics later....

anyway, i gave her a wash today, and went for a burn, and took some pics

apologies aobut the pics - damned resizing program made a real botched effort i reckon...

Had my brake system flushed and saw that the pads all round have plenty of meat still left on them. Pulled out the factory radio, in prep. for the new system I won on Greysonline on Friday. Painted the old windscreen seal trim, grille surround and wipers black with a paint pen....awaiting Steve's GTi alloys and tyres this week, then I'll fit and maybe lower the beast a tad too...watch this space...

hehe - its a total ball compared to when you were up here and drove it. different car really! i reckon you'd really enjoy it now! (although its a little disturbing driving a mk1 and NOT having the exhaust hit the floor )

    coilovers removal

What sort of coilovers did you have?
Was it better or worse with them in
From the sound of it Im guessing that its better with out the coil overs?

Replaced the clutch cable. Was a right pain at times but worth it as it feels much smoother and the mysterious noise is gone. Satisfying too - greasykitchen actually got greasy

Car would not idle - found a fuse was blown unknown to me what it was for - but replacing it fixed it!
