Ain't that the truth Every tried replacing the plugs on an aircooled beetle? Not fun. Even better/worse is replacing the wiper motor in said car?? That took my dad and I (mostly my dad) over 7 hours over about 3cold winter's nights.

Anyway, today I finally put my VWW sticker on as well as my Join the Golf Club sticker which perhaps isn't positioned entirely perfectly.

haha, man i hate that! get a sticker on an then look at it and then its noooot quiiiite right eh, dips a little at one end, or air bubbles! arrrgh! hate em! lol

    anyway,
recently chucked a 24mil rear sway on the old beige thing, and the improvement in handling is unreal! a little more taily, but turns in harder and stays flat through the corner. love it.
so thought id better recommend Selbys for sway bars to all mk1 owners that love hookin into the twisty stuff!

other than that, bit more drill action in the spare wheel well the other day. get that back n por15 it like everything else in there haha.

    On Sunday I;

Replaced all of the exhaust hangers,
Replaced the clutch cable and adjusted the clutch pedal,
    Adjusted the accelerator cable,
Ground out 6 or 8 rust spots around the place,
Bogged up a hole near the drivers side tail light that was leaking,
Cut out some rust in the foot well.

Hey Dom, the swaybars are good but they break the mountings off the body in no time mate. Those "mountings" were only put there to carry the body along the assembly line as are the 2 round holes in the section behind the front arch area.
I ran the GTI and selbys rear bars in competition but reinforced the brackets on the body for the selbys bar after getting black flagged during a race at Baskerville when the flaggies saw it flapping around!

This is too true, I remember doing a pizza delivery (yes, in my mk1) and the rear sway bar hanging down the the mount scraping on the road.

    Def re-inforce it Dom

Trailing arm mounted rear swaybar's FTW & there a cleaner install.

They're also alot quieter too when going over bump's & such as they're main mounting's move up & down with the trailing arm.

I found this out when I fitted my front bar. It's main mounting's are onto the body at the control rear mount's & when going over bump's it would creak it's head off from the up & down movement in the bushes.

Hated it. Plus it was way too stiff for street use as well.

Good stuff though. At least your working on your mk1.

I can't even be stuffed checking the oil level!

When are you going to lower it Dom?

    haha, lower it? what?! lol
probably stay that height so i dont get defected again lmao,
but i dunno, see how things pan out with the arches. it will probably look weird once i fiddle with em, in terms of arch to wheel clearance.
it will call perhaps call for new coils too though. the rears are down as far as they can go even though the fronts have a little way to go. could just get new springs i guess though. see what happens in that department too.
im not too fussed about having the lowest ever mk1 lol, as long as it goes alright and turns corners nicely
