Pete, when are we going to give Red some new paint loving??
In the Red Golf.
Fixed the intermitant horn button.
Fixed a snapped engine mount and snapped exhaust stay.
New gearbox mount, new urethane front reaction mount.
The right angle on the gearbox mount carrier had snapped off, it's pretty common on a lot of MK 1s. I repaired it by drilling out the spot welds to remove it and then welding a piece of 3mm 25x25 r/a back into place.
The exhaust stay had also snappped at the geabox end. I just welded it back together.

car was outside and went to move it into the garage because the slow leak on the rear left had turned into a quick leak,
started her up and it was warming then it stopped ... whats wrong THIS TIME i thought
got out, fuel everywhere.
one of the clamps gave way and leaked the little fuel i had left all over the road. lol
SO! i pushed it into the garage, swapped the wheels, raised the front coils a bit (due to getting an infringement last week for my car being too low at the sump.... 7cm ground clearance instead of 10) got eric (tassie_euro_mk1) to give me a lift to the petrol station with a jerry can, rare spares for an adj hose clamp, and a 6pack on the way home.
cheers bud.
it could have been so simple, bloody hose clamp!
car re-inspected this week at the all new and amazing sump clearance height of 10cm woooo
Been prep-ing a replacement rear bumper - treating the rust on the inside, and soon to give it some fish oil.
Tomorrow: attempting to replace the bumper. Hateful necessity as the old one (apart from being badly bend at one end) is really clean and neat. Damn it.
