Funny you note this. That was the only part out of the whole thing that didn't work, was supplied the wrong new ones in the kit. All the same a bit OEM never hurt. It is a 35 yo car.

always the way, the rear beam looks so pretty that the cap is the first thing i noticed.

Looking good though, next pic should be a 16v in the bay

Well I had an interesting day. I have the car already booked in for some work and the clutch was on the list. I knew it had some issues but was hoping it would hold out til next week. It let go at a busy junction, and after my brother almost got run over exiting the passenger side (crazy ute dude mounting the island to get round us in a huff --like I'd just decided to sit there and hold him up!), we pushed it up onto the grass to take a look.

Luckily, in one way, the cable actually hadn't broken. Also lucky my bro was wearing sneaks as we had a lace to get us home!!

Once home, I took the lace off (that was half sheared already), and I've replaced them with a few zip-ties to get my to the garage.

You can see here that the clutch cable has sheared through the outer metal!!

The car has only just arrived in Auz, and still waiting for the Bentley book and a few parts to arrive this week, as there are a number of things that I need to sort out. But anyone had this happen before? This looks more major than a broken cable...

pretty common on the mk1 if the rubber bush that should be in there is missing.

    Image for reference.

The box has to either be welded or a bushing turned up on a lathe to press into what remains of the hole.

Ive seen 3-4 boxes where the clutch cable has worn into it all the way through. Nasty stuff
