I reckon start off with a few black cable ties, tighten up some loose wires/cables, unless you want to start rerouting stuff, lengthening wires & such, I'm not sure there's a whole lot that can be done. But I think alot could be said for cleaning up some of the scraggly looking wires, and/or placing them against solid/straight objects.

Straightened my chrome bumpers all by myself!
Surprised that I could, and seriously stoked!

I got to vent some aggression at the bumps with a rubber mallet and they're nice and straight now, satisfactorily so.
Really surprised and pleased, finally something worked for me!

Oh and Mark the MX5 wheels look awesome! I was wondering if they'd be NA6 or NA8 wheels, and yeah they're the ones I've had!

Talking Not today but last Saturday

Got the GTi up on a mates hoist for a bit of a pre-roadworthy lookover...

Discovered the chassis rails are a bit damaged, either from a monkey with a trolleyjack at Kmart/Beaurepaires, or a painful exit off a high kerb (damage is consistent on the sills and side skirts).

Treated some of the rust that's appearing on the sills.

Fixed the passenger seat latch (bodge job which will get it through roadworthy), also fixed a weird noise from under the bonnet (and later discovered the thing causing it was an aftermarket 'agitator' on the fuel injection system).

Fixed the throttle cable as the sleeve had split and was causing the accelerator pedal to not travel smoothly (another bodge job then will look at replacing it).

Had a good look underneath for leaks etc. (only one very minor one, which was fixed by tightening up a bolt).

Did about 100kms of varied (but highly enjoyavle) driving to and from my place to Coburg, only missed a beat once. And the battery definitely needs replacing...

Apart from that, we're pretty much ready to put her in for a roadworthy. And then the fun really starts...
There is no Golf in my life. This is unacceptable...

    Sounds like good news squirrel!

I tried my best to clean/tidy/hide all the wires in the engine bay today. Looks much better!

Took a wire brush to the original Mk1 rims and then gave them a spray of silver wheel paint. Scrubbed the dress rings and centre hub caps. Will put them on tomorrow. Getting her ready for the Nationals.
