Dash out to search for possible shorts (headlight switch blew), fixed the wiring up to make it less likely to short and more tidy (+soldered broken dash light)
Cleaned heater box out (30yrs of dead leaves!).
Tracked a water leak back to the inside passenger guard.
Glued a crack in the lower dash with some hot glue.

    > replaced LHS outer CV and boot
    > replaced both inner CV boots and regrease
    > replace tie rods and boots
    > pressed out old control arm bushings, replaced with red prothane ones
    > cleaned up and painted control arms
    > drilled out old balljoints, removed and replaced with new balljoints and M8 high tensile bolts
    > replaced uprights with early cabrio ones and new wheel bearings
    > refitted everything, wheel aligned, steering rack centred, and test drive complete by 7:30pm tonight!

the result - MAN - i cannot believe how damned sticky the car is! i have NEVER in my life driven a vehicle that responds so beutifully to driver input!

can i just say - this foux-pas about having control arms past horizontal - i can't fault it myself. mine are quite a ways past horizontal and the car handles absolutely wonderfully!.... its possible that because of the large aftermarket front swaybar the characteristics of my car are different from a car without the swaybar...
    Unbelievable isn't it?
When I did similar to the front end of mine it felt like a new car
And even more satisfying when you do it yourself

New tyres yesterday. Nothing too amazing; just new rubber for the stock steelies but it feels noticably better - smoother handling, braking, even accelerating, just smoother all round, and lighter steering too.

Now I think it's time to replace the worn tie rod and hopefully it will feel even better (and fingers crossed nothing else in the front needs replacing...for now).

Welded the exhaust back together. It's much quieter now.

Has anyone replaced a CV boot with a 'split' type replacement? Mine has split and I am too lazy to remove the hub.

I installed the child car seat for a trip to Bunnings with the 2 year old and he loved every minute of it.

You dont have to remove the hub and proper boots are the best.

    Agreed with above.

Yep oil temp sensor spat itself yesterday covered the engine bay with oil, nice

New one in and engine bay now steam cleaned....

Back wheels were off, drums adjusted.

General tinkering lasting a couple of hours...
