    Don't you love it when you look at how they were brand new!
    I wish I was able to buy one brand new. Especially a 1978 silver GTI with the tartan interior.

    That look's like it has a 9 spoke GTI wheel on the back!

    yeah i love it.

    Now here are the colours:







    so its between :

    Rallye Red
    Blood Orange
    Salmon Red

    But these werent Aussie colours were they?

    Thats a funny pic, it does have a stock GTI wheel on the back. Bet you wish yours looked that straight Costa!

    How come martini Olive (Baby **** yellow) is not on that colour chart?

    The Aussie cars were painted in Nissan (Datsun) colours. If you get a 1976 Datsun Colour Chart, all the Golf colours will be represented.

    I had to get wattle, baby poo yellow matched and it did not exist in VWs book. Then the old guy in the car shop said, hang on they made them in the Datto factory, pulled out his Nissan colour book and voila!

    Explains the 70s colour and the lack of correlation with overseas colour charts.

    If I remember correctly they were all assemble in Clayton?

    VW - Beetles's,Kombi's,Type 3's, Golf's
    Nissan(Datsun) - All models?
    Volvo - All models?

    Yes thats right. And Volvos, I forgot about them. Their colours are probably the same too.

    According to the Autobarn colour chart oak green was a mk1 colour too
